The Barons of Tang

Postby Chantel » Wed Sep 16, 2009 3:39 pm

The Barons of Tang play a high energy mash up of gypsy metal punk and rockabilly (they call it gypsy deathcore) with a lineup that includes accordion, double bass, saxophone and tuba. It gets the crowds up and dancing from the first number, especially at festivals. Influences include Secret Chiefs 3, Django Reinhardt, Tom Waits, Estradasphere, Frank Zappa, Taraf de Hadouks, Fantomas, Primus and Mr Bungle.

Damn. I remember I wanted to see these guys at the Death Til Tango show, but had to go home after the Tango Saloon...
Hope I catch 'em this time :D Love what I've heard so far!

Yeah, I've seen them at the Factory Theatre and bought their CD. Got in trouble from the security for trying to take one of the advert posters.

Good band. I prefer The Crooked Fiddle Band though, who they've toured with. I saw them at The Factory too (different gig).

Might be going to the Newtown Festival to see them.
