Fall's Festival 2009

Postby Chantel » Thu Aug 06, 2009 1:29 pm

After the acts for this year’s Falls Festival was leaked ahead of time, organisers have now gone public with the line-up. And what a line-up it is. A starry roll-call of international and homegrown talent will be ushering in the New Year amongst the natural splendour of Lorne and Marion Bay.

Leading the charge is none other than New York trendsetters Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Returning to our shores in full regalia for the first time since 2006, Karen O and her boys are now bona fide headliner material. Having delivered his best work in quite a while with this year’s Wait For Me, Moby comes to Falls with full band in tow.

The wondrous Grizzly Bear is set to make its Australian festival debut, while album of the year challengers Future Of The Left will again leave us steamrolled. In fact, all the overseas guests are typically high-class: among them British brooders Editors, the beguiling Emiliana Torrini, rough-hewn bluesman Seasick Steve and first-time visitors Chairlift and King Khan and the Shrines (listen to these guys, and brace yourself).

It wouldn’t be a Falls Festival without a strong local team. This time the party will be brought by Hilltop Hoods, Midnight Juggernauts and Art Vs Science, while Xavier Rudd, Little Birdy, Sarah Blasko and The Temper Trap take care of all rocking and reclining needs. There’s plenty more to marvel at in the full line-up, so feast your eyes on it below.

I'd like to see Moby again. He was surprisingly good live when I saw him in 2005. Congas and shit!
