He's probably only saying that because the bands aren't suppose to announce anything until the actual Big Day Out organisers announce it.

An already bursting-at-the-seams Big Day Out bill has now filled out even further. The star of the third round announcement is undoubtedly Mike Patton’s unhinged four-piece Fantomas. Brisbane juggernaut The Butterfly Effect will get the moshpits moving, while blues revisionist Son Of Dave stirs up the Lilyworld.

Then there’s Barrence Whitfield and the Rockwiz Orkestra (they of SBS TV fame), Regurgitator frontman Quan doing his solo thing and dancefloor staple T-Rek in the Boiler Room. Melbourne and Sydney will also be treated to a set by our very own ‘80s alt-pop sensations The Reels.

Big Day Out third round line-up:

Fantomas (USA)
Son of Dave (USA)
Barrence Whitfield (USA) and the Rockwiz Orkestra
The Butterfly Effect
T-Rek
Quan
I Heart Hiroshima (Gold Coast & Sydney)
The Reels (Sydney & Melbourne)

Local line-ups for each city:

GOLD COAST – Sunday 18th January
The Cool Calm Collective, Enacio, Misdirection, Adelle, A Name Will Come, DNO, The Ginclub, Andrew Morris, Mr Laneous, DJ Hutch plus triple j unearthed winner.

SYDNEY – Friday 23rd January
Sasha Vatoff, theredsunband, The Scare, WOW, The Jezabels, Bang Gang DJs, DJ Jem Vs TC, Purple Sneakers DJs, Horrorshow plus triple j unearthed winner.

MELBOURNE – Monday 26th January
Rocket Science, Trial Kennedy, Perplex, Acid Jacks, Ms Butt, Decland Kelly, Illzilla, My Disco, Beaches, The Vandas plus triple j unearthed winner.

ADELAIDE – Friday 30th January
Wolf & Cub DJs, Lowrider, The Shiny Brights, Robotosaurus, The Watersliders, The Transatlantics, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!, Dialect, Denorthwode, Terra Firma, Loot & Plunder plus triple j unearthed winner

PERTH – Sunday 1st February
Dead Flowers, Bentman and Sipn, Shazam, Kuling Brothers, Drapht, Red Jezebel, Pathogen, Simon Kelly Band, Project Mayhem
