Early Grunge Act Featuring PEARL JAM Members Reuniting - Oct. 5, 2007

The Pulse of Radio reports: GREEN RIVER, an important early grunge act from Seattle, will reunite next summer to perform at a 20th anniversary concert for Sub Pop Records, according to Billboard.com. The group featured bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard, who later formed first MOTHER LOVE BONE and then PEARL JAM, as well as future MUDHONEY members Mark Arm and Steve Turner. Although GREEN RIVER made little commercial impact outside of its hometown, its members' later projects played key roles in the rise of the Seattle grunge scene.

Gossard confirmed that the one-off reunion would happen in 2008, explaining, "PEARL JAM has toured with MUDHONEY, so we played with Mark and Steve. But we haven't played with Alex (Vincent, drummer) and Bruce (Fairweather, guitarist) in quite a while. They're both excited about it, from everything I've heard."

A partial GREEN RIVER reunion occurred in 1993 when Arm and Turner joined PEARL JAM onstage at a Las Vegas concert.

GREEN RIVER formed in 1984 and was named for the "Green River Killer" that was terrorizing Seattle at the time. The band's first release, a 1985 EP called "Come On Down", is widely considered the first grunge record.

PEARL JAM is currently taking a break and issued a live DVD called "Immagine in Cornice" last week.
