Highlight for me was chinese whispers. in all honesty, nothing else in the set even came close to the power and emotion of this track, and i think without this track and possibly its position in the set i think i probably would have walked away dissapointed..

Because we don't sound like Nucleus?

You want my honest opinion - I'll give you two points untill tomorrow:

1. Your set seems fucked up. To me, your music left ZERO impression untill Crowded Room - the first two song did nothing for me (I know I have heard at least the second one recorded, and loved it - live is nothing).

I know you guys are big one the "no two songs sound the same" thing, and I think live, this is a mistake, your set bounces all over the shop and as much as I try, I can't find any rhythm to the show.

2. Mark sounded great ONCE in the set (vocally) - the rest was poo.... you need to work this out.

3. (Count this as a bonus) - To me, it was obvious you guys took some personal baggage on stage - you didn't look like a cohesive unit, it looked to me like eveyone was playing for themselves.

One thing that I do love about our set, is that there is no unified view on which are our best tracks. I think our diversity is obviously the key in appealing to different tastes.

On Friday in particular, I had the usual "Chinese Whispers" singled out as great by many people. Yet just as many people gave me props on Tuanis, which is the second song in our set, with the Theremin. I also had quite a few people, including Edwin, tell me how much they loved "Bring it Down", which is our other slightly mellower tune. I know Dom loves "The Crowded Room", and I had extremely positive feedback from quite a few people, including a cousin of mine who also plays guitar in a band called Inbedlam, and Sid who sings in that band, for the first new song we played called "Jupiter Majeski", which they loved. Then there was the boys from the main support band, Stealing O'Neal, who told me that the other new song we played, "Princess Damn Devine", was by far our best song.

So yeah, in regards to songwriting and appeal, I guess it's better to please most of the people some of the time, rather than a few people all of the time and most not at all...

I'm not about to take seemlessly coming across as diverse as a negative.

hahaha im always in my own world when I play... I look at Luis 2 times during a set 1 time in first song, to see if he is playing the guitar lick bit be4 theres a pause, and teh 2nd time is at teh end of chinese whispsers when its teh rock ending , so i can see his "ok stassy thats enough drum rollings and fancy pants shit" look on his face hahahaha

so i could see how i wouldnt have hlped that cohesive unit vibe...

But being cohesive isn't necessarily about looking at each other.

I know there's plenty of times in the set when I'm not looking at shit, just deep in concentration with what I am doing, and if you throw in a particularly good fill, or go into a really cool break down bit well, it will energise and inspire me, send chills up my spine even. It may not be immediately obvious to someone out side of what we are experiencing together, but within our own little world up on stage it's extremely profound and rewarding.

For me, at least.
