Hey guys, good show the other night. In all honesty though I think I have seen you play better. I have seen better vocal performances from you as well.

I was a little lost from the intro, it seemed like it was going somewhere then it didn't? I am sure you realise this though.

Stassy played really well (haven't seen you play a bad show). IMO there was a big difference in performance between headphones on and headphones off. I would seriously look at whether you really need them (I have no idea what you are using them for).

Overall though I enjoyed it. I thought the clarity of your sound was really good. I thought the guitar sound was excellent. Some of the new stuff has a lot of potential and really shows you guys are growing. Well done.

Cheers Dave!

Yes the headphones are essential for her to hear the click track for the sequencing/loops/samples/backing track.
She doesn't play along to a click for every track though...

Cool. :D
I really noticed between on or off, but that could be just me. I am a harsh judge...

I mean specifically...

With headphones off much more solid with a lot more groove. Ghost notes very clear and audible and fills very sharp and snappy. With Headphones on still very tight but not as sharp sounding (note wise).

For me, it was the first time i have seen you guys. I saw your whole set except for the cover. I am definitely curious to see you again so form a better judgement, though here are my thoughts. most of this has already been covered in some way...

Highlight for me was chinese whispers. in all honesty, nothing else in the set even came close to the power and emotion of this track, and i think without this track and possibly its position in the set i think i probably would have walked away dissapointed..

I like your originality, most songs dont generally cross over to each other and every track is its own.

I seriously thought the sound was pretty bad for you guys. It wasnt your own engineer was it? Its was FUCKING LOUD. So loud that i had to go and spend $2 on a pair of earplugs, and most times i wouldnt care. I agree with lack of clarity in vocals, but i think mainly this was because they were battling through a wash of bad reverb. Sure, the reverb sounded great on the snare, but it ruined the vocals. Also, i found the keys to be way too dominant in the mix, and totally out of context. No fault of you guys of course, but this was my analysis.

As far as stage presence goes, i think it lacked a little. i guess its hard with the songs you guys are playing, there are only the few kinda rock your guts out tracks, but i still reckon some fly kicks and backflips in those tracks wouldnt go astray...

As far as stage layout goes, i agree with everyone here in saying that i think that Luis should be centre. I can understand the side-of-stage frontman, and i dont disagree with your position. You compared it to Mike Patton - there are a couple of things here.
For starters, Mike uses the opposite side of stage to you, which for keys + vocals etc works very effectively and i think would work better for you rather than having to play keys and turn your body right around to face the audience.
HOWEVER Mike Patton also does not play guitar and i think if you were on the other side of stage you might be a little blocked from the rest of the band with the keyboard+lappy being in between you and the person in the middle of the stage.

Vocally, i think Luis did a great job considering his health. Though Vocal arrangement as far as the band goes could be worked on. Personally, i hate the idea of live vocal doubles - they rarely are pulled off well live. I would like to have heard more harmonies considering there were 3 singers, most of the time (as far as i can remember) singing in unison.

Stassy did a great job - i didnt particularly notice any change between click and non-click songs. I have the same opinion of the intro track - it totally lost all meaning - the 10-15 seconds of silence afterwards killed it, especially being the opening band (everyone so quiet). The bass Player (forgive me i dont know your name) could have looked a little more enthused. Troy had good movement and generally the two guitars worked well together (though mix-wise for the start Troys was much lounder that Luis'). Though i kinda felt a little embarrased at times with his in-between song banter...

So that basically gives you an idea of my first impressions of the band. As i said i would like to see you again to get a better idea of your songs and to have some kind of comparison.

I am in agreeance with Dylan a lot.

I have seen you guys play better. Most of the set seemed to lack something for me. Chinese whispers was by far and anyway the best.

I'll write more tomorrow.
