[quote]Wednesay October 18th

Hello all,

Well, it seems the final ticket release for Sydney seems to be a hot potato with everyone having a better idea than the one that is now operating.

I will try to explain what happened and what we are doing with the hope that those people most affected can see this from our point of view.

1/ We withdrew tickets from sale at 45,000 so it didn’t end up that the only people with the power to control ticket prices were EBAY using scum.

2/ We did not ever consider the use of non-transferable tickets (ie name and DOB) on tickets as we see no problem with people obtaining tickets for others. However, it is a clear condition on the back of the ticket that it cannot be sold for profit.

3/ The reason why the tickets will be now $125 +bf for the first 5,000 then $150+bf for the final 5,000 relates again to the issue of scalping. Scalpers profit from the difference between the purchase price and their selling price.
It is hoped the higher price will dramatically reduce the demand from scalpers. The extra money will be used on talent, improving facilities and in increasing staff levels especially at entrances.

All the new tickets will be printed with the new price.

One thing seems to be agreed, the Sydney BDO is seriously underpriced. We did consider increasing the ticket price to $125 or more for all tickets but we felt that unfair.

THE REAL ISSUE

Ticket scalping has been an issue for as long as I can remember.

It used to be about stopping scalping outside the venue, I’ve even had a gun pulled on me when I called one guy scum. It is illegal but it seems no one in a position of power cares or even sees it as a problem. On several occasions government representatives have advised me that it is “free enterpriseâ€

Oh man this guy's a fucking crack-up...

We did not ever consider the use of non-transferable tickets (ie name and DOB) on tickets as we see no problem with people obtaining tickets for others. However, it is a clear condition on the back of the ticket that it cannot be sold for profit.

"Oh no, it's written on the ticket, we shouldn't do it!" Idiots...

The reason why the tickets will be now $125 +bf for the first 5,000 then $150+bf for the final 5,000 relates again to the issue of scalping.

...and so we can rape and pilage those who didn't get tickets in the first 45 000 because they'll pay whatever we tell them because they want to go to the Big Day Out.

It is hoped the higher price will dramatically reduce the demand from scalpers. The extra money will be used on talent, improving facilities and in increasing staff levels especially at entrances.

Does anyone believe that??

One thing seems to be agreed, the Sydney BDO is seriously underpriced.

 Has anyone ever heard anyone say the cost of BDO is not enough??

We are always trying to improve the system. What is in place this year worked last year by keeping the ebayers profit down.

We hope that over time we can improve the technology but also the morality involved to make sure the fans get the tickets at the right price.

However, please try to keep things in perspective. We believe it imperative to minimise inconvenience to the innocent when we are trying to stop the actions of the inconsiderate and greedy.

In short... "we don't really give a fuck, but people are making us care, so instead of putting in a foolproof system to stop scalpers, we'll do a half-arsed job instead, and withhold tickets in order to make a larger profit."
I touched her hand... her hand touched her boob. By the transitive property, I got boob! Algebra's awesome!
