Audioslave frontman to sing Bond theme
July 29, 2006
Chris Cornell, frontman of US rock band Audioslave, will record the theme tune for upcoming James Bond film Casino Royale.
Cornell's song, titled You Know My Name, will open the film, which marks British actor Daniel Craig's debut as agent 007.
Producers said Cornell's "soulful and tough" music was a perfect complement to the film.
Some Bond themes, such as Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger and Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die, have become as famous as the films themselves.
More recently, Madonna, Garbage and Sheryl Crow have recorded songs for the spy thrillers.
Cornell, former singer and guitarist with Seattle grunge band Soundgarden, is the first man to sing a Bond theme since A-Ha singer Morten Harket crooned on 1987's The Living Daylights.
Casino Royale is released on December 8.
