Paper Champion (ex-Otium)

For those who care, just wanted to give you an update on what's happening musically with myself post-Otium.

Well, many of you would know that myself, Denis and DC on da drums got back together around mid-2005 after a few beers and many mushy "I love you's" (or something to that degree). The three of us, for the uninitiated, were part of a band called Otium (http://www.myspace.com/otium) which played around the Sydney scene from Feb 04 - March 05.

After 10 months of searching, we found a singer in the name of Grant. Aften even longer trying to decide on a band name, we finally all agreed on Paper Champion.

For those who knew Otium's music, Paper Champion is, while similar (it's going to be hard to move away from a sound we all know and love), does differ a fair bit... and personally I think the songs are a lot stronger this time around. We've approached the way we write songs differently this time, resulting in stronger structures and a fuller sound. There's also a marked increase in intensity as well.

We're going into the studio on the 22nd and 23rd of July to record a three-track demo, and we will be launching a website and MySpace site mid August. At this stage, we'll be playing live in October, so hopefully info will be confirmed soon.
