I agree.

What scares me though is, I'm sure that's how it started regarding Nazi Germany too...

It only takes a small group of people to grow and change a whole society...

Patriotic Youth League = the new Nazis

Yes a little racism but not the main factor I dont think....

I think a lot of this can be laid at the goverments feet with their war on terror and the vindcation of certain ethnic groups
Plus the bombs in London & the two in Bali
I think its just stoopid people unable to express there helplesess in any other way then violence plus the fat that it was sparked in the first instance by violence and there at the moment seems to be that eye for an eye mentality

Yes Australia has an underlying racism problem. I think there is a certain level of animosity between all races and these sort of actions are just fuel to that fire.

That's just making excuses for their behaviour IMO.

I for one do not consider myself to be anything other than human.

I can't believe that people are still so ignorant, stupid, narrow-minded and prejudice - especially in Australia where I've been brought up knowing that Australia is a multi-cultural country.

It's disgusting and embarassing and NO ONE is in the right in this situation...

I got a vibe from Chantel's post, and posts made by yourself that you were suprised.

Maybe YOU have just been walking around with your eyes closed like the rest of the "surprised Australians". It has always been there, and it has always been visable if you looked.

Once people can understand and learn AND EXPRESS that Racism DOES NOT have to be part of ANY culture - only then will it not exist.

It's called being a realist Channy. I donut have a racist bone in my body, others do.

i have never seen a mob of 5000 racist dickheads violently take over the streets as they did over the weekend.

I am not denying that there is racism in Australia, Craig. Read my post.

Ok but that does not mean that their attitude can't change. It's us that DON'T consider racism a welcome or rational way of thinking, that have to EXPRESS this at every given opportunity.

By you saying that it will ALWAYS exist is a defeatist attitude and one that almost gives license for others to continue their racsist views/beliefs/actions.
