    Well, Van Dyke Parks, who worked with the Beach Boys, helped arrange a bunch of stuff on there, so I wouldn't expect you to like it...

    It's funny how you find something like that boring, yet enjoy Cog's first 2 EP's...

    There's a great moment on the making of Diorama DVD where they're talking about asking Van Dyke to help with the album and someone says "that'd be great but I think he's dead", then they cut to Van Dyke who said "I thought I was dead too!"

    I enjoy Cog's first 2 EP's for different reasons - ie. remembering watching them in tiny little pubs playing to 50 people and being amazed at the intensity of those shows. JV Part 2 is better than Part 1 because it is a bit more melodic and explores more soundscapes. I also like the tones of the songs.

    I realise that there is so much going on in those Diorama songs - it's just that none of the melodies really grabbed me and the songs that I HAVE heard (only the singles) lacked some of the intensity that I grew to love on Neon Ballroom.

    Diorama was fantastic...the writing is really solid beautifully played too...catchy and intense.

    On the COG thang I think there is alot more diversity and originality in what they are doing now.. Great to see them get better and better. Being amazed at the Blueprints at the SHX many moons ago to now what a difference..JV's are still good just not great...

    i recognise that silverchair are talented... but i don't dig it at all. don't hate it... but don't feel the need to go out and purchase any albums either.
