The Flaming Lips - The Fearless Freaks (DVD)

This retrospective documentary of The Lips, which mainly centres around frontman Wayne Coyne, was filmed by Coynes neighbour and longtime friend, Bradley Beasley. He's been filming this since the inception of the band (Over 20 years!), and has also directed all their video clips.

It's a fascinating and intimate insight into a very ecclectic group of musicians.
You just can't help but fall in love with these guys, and their fragile, meek, yet artistically profound existence.

One of the best band bio movies I've seen.
What is surprising about this though is that the movie itself doesn't focus on the bands music as such, but more on their personal lives.
Intriguing stuff, especially if you're a fan...

I absolutely loved this DVD.

It made you laugh, cry, go  and  , and everything in between.

There's also quite a bit of live footage from their earlier years - not my kinda stuff - 'Yoshimi...' rawks my sawks though.

And it's about time Wayne finished his movie that he's filming in his back yard!

Yeah, not a fan of the earlier stuff. But everything from Zaireeka onwards is pretty sweet.

That movie Wayne is making, Christmas On Mars, looks pretty dodgy, but it would still be cool to see how it turns out...
