Three Days...

A murder of crows

Day 3 Sydney

A stressful day for me, as I had to work during the day.
I also had a lot riding on this gig.

All the bands arrived and soundcheck complete without any dramas, which was good.
By the time the doors opened, a little crowd had built up at the door, eager to see openers, Soma.

Soma have improved 10 fold since I saw them last. Really nice bunch of guys who I will definitely be checking out again in the future, as well as hopefully do more gigs with. Thank you so much for putting on such a great performance.

Everyone in the Locus Scene camp was very nervous prior to our performance.
Stassy in particular was feeling the pressure.
We had a little chat back stage before we went on, with me iterating how much I believed in them, and in what we do, and that we should all be proud and go out there and put on the best show possible, using whatever feelings we had, and channel them into our performance in a positive way.
And boy did we have a great time!

The Marquee is such a greatvenue to play at.
Large stage, great sound, and brilliant lights.
We felt so comfortable up there. We also had not tech difficulties, which seem to plague us from time to time.

We started out strong, and didn't look back. We fed off the crowd reaction, which is one of the most positive we have had.
I could see everyone getting into it, tapping into what we are doing musically.
All this built to the climax of Chinese Whispers, which of course everyone loved!

After our performance we recieved a plethora of positive comments/reviews.
I was over the moon.
Technically we have played better, but the energy on stage and vibe of the room made this one of our best overall performances.
Thank you to everyone who stood up and came down to the front to support us.
We love you all...

Rook were absolutely amazing, AGAIN. It was good to see everyone up the front there supporting such an amazing band, regardless that this was their first trip up here. My fave song is easily Desley, followed closely by Fiction.
THIS BAND SHOULD BE SIGNED TO A MAJOR!!

They impressed many in the room, and went on to sell quite a few CD's.
I love the Rook boys, and can't wait to see them again.

Junto were fantastic as usual. Without them there would have been no show. I'm indebted to them, and can't thank them enough...

Afterwards, we eventually headed to the Townie, our home away from home!
I tried to get the Rook boys to come along, but they are soft, and had to get up at 7 in the morning to start the long trip home. Fuckers...

There we met up with Joey from Junto, and the boys from Taveren Jive with their respective hangers on. We must have missed Craig, Andrew and crew, or did you guys get refused??

:(

After much drinking (Maybe a little TOO much for some, hey Stassy  ) and celebration (And Nick and I singing the most annoying pop songs and TV themes at the top of our croaky voices), we decided to call it a night at 4 am.

Took us all day yesterday to recover, and I'm still feeling it...

So, in closing, it was a fantastic three days.
Lots of dramas, excitement, conflict, and drinking along the way, not to mention ours of driving...

I'd like to thank me band mates for being there with me.
I love them all, and couldn't do what I do without them.
Here's to many more shows and experiences with them.
This year will be our year...

Thank you to Rook.
Phenomenal band, and a great bunch of guys.
We had a ball, and I hope they did too.
Special thanxs to Bec, their tour manager, for keeping them all in line.
Till we meet again...

A huge thanx s to all the other bands we played with.
In particular, Soma and the mighty Junto, for helping us put on such a great Sydney show.
And thanxs to the Sparrows for letting their egos get in the way of a good joke...

Thanks to the staff at the Marquee for being so pro, especially Lamar the sound guy.

Thank you to each and every person who came along.
Andrew, Kyles, Craig, Megan, Magdalena, Steve, Nick (Who came along to 2 shows, thanxs buddy), Dom, Megan (even though you still owe me money for the tix! :P ), all of Stassy's mates, Julez, tash etc, Justin (Thanx for taking care of the girl, you hella drum tech you), and everyone else who I forget...

But my biggest thanks of all, has to go to my beautiful Princess.
Thank you for supporting and helping me through all this.
Thank you for putting up with my shit, and stress outs.
Door bitch, driver, co pilot, merch girl, drinking buddy, promoter, $$, press hound etc etc etc...
I love you so much and don't know what I'd do without you...
