In all the excitement over the riot provoked by Metallica’s recent show in Colombia, where 1,500 police and four tanks were deployed to manage the crowds, an important piece of news managed to slip through everyone’s fingers.
At a press conference on the day of the show in the Colombian capital, Bogotoa, the band revealed plans to play New Zealand and Australia in November.
Asked what the band’s plans for the future involve the band’s leadman James Hetfield laughed off rumours of an unplugged record before simply stating the answer of “Europe”.
Thankfully drummer Lars Ulrich was in a more talkative mood and delivered the news the Australian Metallica fans have been waiting to hear since the band last visited in 2004 – “We’re staying out and doing dates through November in Australia and New Zealand and then after that we’re going to take a little chill time.”
It seems as though the Australian dates will close the epic “World Magnetic Tour”, in support of the band’s ninth studio album Death Magnetic, which began way back on September 12th 2008.
