The wait for fans of The Police is officially over. Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers have confirmed they will be spending the summer downunder with stadium concerts scheduled in Wellington, Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this January and February 2008.

With over 1,770,000 tickets sold to date and more concerts to be announced, The Police tour is definitely the hottest ticket of the year. Following the North American tour, The Police will kick off their European tour on 29-August in Sweden for the first of 25 concert events. The Police will then return to North America, followed by concert dates in Mexico and South America prior to their arrival on our shores.

In 1977, The Police stormed the music scene by blending reggae, punk, jazz and rock. Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers created an unmistakably nuanced sound filled with evocative melodies, infectious lyrics and rock & roll swagger. The Police dominated the top of the charts and radio airwaves worldwide with five #1 albums and a succession of top 10 hit singles. In the six years they were together, The Police became one of the world's most famous bands, earning six Grammy Awards and countless fans around the globe.

Yeah, they're OK... I suppose, but I don't see how they're exciting and this tour (like most reunions) seems like an excuse to cash in and since they're not exactly poor, I don't see the point in financing them. Stewart Copeland is pretty cool... I like the fact that the guitarist is the least important member of the band too.

Least celebrated member of the band? Of course he's important, I meant he's least focused on.
