nucleus defined - a large, membrane-bound, usually spherical protoplasmic structure within a living cell - containing the cell's hereditary material and controlling its metabolism, growth, and reproduction.

Exploding onto the Sydney local scene in the second half of 2005 – their first show would be to a sell-out crowd at the Metro Theatre – Transit Lounge (capacity 350+). After a year of performing at only the best of Sydney’s clubs, pubs and theatres, including Newtown RSL, the Metro and Annandale – Nucleus have consistently left crowds in a trance following the experience of a show.

This is one heavy band that isn’t about moshpits and violent headbanging mayhem – instead Nucleus will encapsulate your mind, transmitting many different ideas and experiences in the form of non-generic rock music. Their musical depth and space is achieved by the contradictory schism of melodic weight and hard-hitting riffage that is intended to enter the listener's conscious at both a literal and subliminal level.
After a slight period of downtime following the departure of former guitarist Brett Goodsall, Nucleus has been full steam ahead since acquiring new guitarist Dylan Mitrovich in September 2006. The band has spent the past month in the studio polishing their highly anticipated debut EP along with writing some inspiring new material for their upcoming tour.

9 Months in Solitary is the title of the debut studio effort from NUCLEUS. The EP is metaphorisised as the journey from conception to birth. It ranges from alluring, peaceful, melodies, to idle, hypnotic breakdowns, to huge walls of sonic mass, covering an almost indefinable spectrum of sound. NUCLEUS believes its debut release is a true representation of the bands current evolution both musically and thematically, and also provides a good indication of the potential the band possesses.

The EP is set to be released upon Sydney on Saturday December 2, at the Gaelic Club in Surry Hills. The show will feature support from Shiver, Sleight of Hand, The Modern Condition and Portrait of Guilt, and it is promised to be an unforgettable show.
