After a hiatus that lasted way too long, the members of Alice in Chains have decided to release a collection of songs in a two CD re-mastered compilation which gives an overview of the band’s entire career.
The Essential Alice in Chains is set to be released in Australia on 14 October 2006 and is the first Seattle band in the Essential series. The Essentials collection has been re-mastered bringing Alice in Chains to a new level of audio excellence.
The two CD set features 28 singles and album tracks covering the period 1990 – 1999. It features tracks such as We Die Young, Man in the Box, What the Hell Have I, Nutshell and Would? The Essential Alice in Chains features special appearances from Ann Wilson (Heart), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) and Mark Arm (Mudhoney).
To mark this special occasion and to celebrate Alice in Chains taking their songs on the road in the US, A Tribute to Alice in Chains will pay homage to the pioneers of Seattle Grunge by performing at the official launch of The Essential Alice in Chains on Friday 13 October 2006 at The Marquee (

A Tribute To Alice In Chains features:

Ben Turner (Guitar) ex Brace
Rod Yates (Bass) ex Brace
Max (Drums) ex Mach 1
A Tribute To Alice In Chains first performed on Thursday 6 February 2003 at the Annandale Hotel to honour the music of the highly influential band, with particular respect paid to the late Layne Staley. This was an incredible success with more than 300 supporters turning up to make it a truly memorable event.
On Friday 4 April 2003, a return performance was held to mark the anniversary of Layne’s passing. The gig was an astonishing sell-out feat. The show featured ninety minutes of a broad range of material from the four featured albums – Facelift, Dirt, Jar of Flies and Alice in Chains – with emphasis on both the electric and acoustic translations.
In conjunction with SonyBMG releasing The Essential Alice in Chains, A Tribute to Alice in Chains' performance at The Marquee on Friday 13 October 2006 will again feature a blend of electric and acoustic tunes from the entire Alice in Chains catalogue.
