As good as a first show can go I guess Dyl. When you're sitting in a box for 16 months your perception becomes warped. When you step out on stage you instantly learn what works and what doesn't work, and you do forget a few things in the heat of the moment.
For us, it's nice to know that the songs we all like are the ones that others are into, and the ones that we see more as filler are ones that others don't like. It also gave us a greater sense of musical direction - we know now what we like and what others like.
We also learned what didn't work, and what we can do to change this. Some of the feedback we can change, but other feedback like playing tighter will only come through playing live more. There were a few mistakes particularly with the Groovebox that came down to a mixture of nerves and inexperience using the equipment, but all of that will be sorted by the October Annandale show. We were also using the Groovebox at the front of the stage, and most of the feedback regarding this was that Dave should be using it so it's hidden away from the view of the audience, giving the performance a more seemless feel.
At the end of the day, I'm the harshest critic and the mistakes stick out like a sore thumb to me, but the majority of the feedback has been positive, or contained constructive criticism, which is just as important. It was great to be performing again, and while I was nervous for a lot of the show, it was great to be performing these songs that we're all proud of, and hopefully will grow on people and others will start to enjoy as well.
