For more than 40 years, Aiko Suzuki has pushed the boundaries of sound and art. Creating instruments, installations and new listening situations his work has exceeded the usual limitations of space and sound to create an aural and visual world to delight, interest and intrigue his audience.
Suzuki's career began in 1963 when he investigated the soundpossibilities of a set of stairs and a bucket of junk. This relatively simple performance showcased Suzuki's mantra as an artist, to simply listen. Following this he went on to explore a series of natural aural phenomenon and this led to the creation of an echo instrument called Analapos and an installation known as The Space in the Sun both of which allow people to hear the reflected sounds of nature.
