On The Turntable...

Techniques to stimulate the vestibule

Bjork - Medulla
Kristen Hersh - The Grotto (well, the first song anyway)
Estradasphere - Buck Fever

I've actually been really bored with music at the moment.

I'm absolutely hanging for something really new and amazing that gets me hook, line and sinker.
I have the choice of being constantly active and happy or introspectively passive and sad. Or I can go mad by ricocheting in between. - Sylvia Plath

Nucleus - 10,000 Days

Image

1. Vicarious
2. Jambi
3. Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
4. 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
5. The Pot
6. Lipan Conjuring
7. Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)
8. Rosetta Stoned
9. Intension
10. Right In Two
11. Viginti Tres

No surprises here.
An obvious follow on from Lateralus, which also failed to impress me.
I would rate this album higher than the last though.
Opening track Vicarious reminds me way too much of Schism/The Grudge, but it still grooves fairly ruthlessly, and has definitely grown on me.
The other standout track would have to be The Pot, which is definitely destined for radio and will probably be the follow up single.
There are 3 filler type tracks, Lipan Conjuring, Lost Keys and Viginti Tres, which did absloutely nothing for me. The title track is certainly a trip and a half, clocking in at over 11 mins.
Overall I think this album will grow on me more than Lateralus did, but it is definitely no Aenima.
I'd say even the most cynical Nucleus fan should be left feeling happy, yet ultimately unsatisfied...
