Anyone here a fan of the "post rock" genre? The term cops a bit of criticism these days, I guess because it's one of those media-invented terms that gets used ad nauseum. I guess you could blanket these bands in the term:

Godspeed You Black Emperor
Mogwai
Explosions In The Sky
A Silver Mt Zion
Mono
Tortoise

Then bands like Radiohead, 65daysofstatic, Rachel's and Sigur Ros count as well, though they sit in the grey area.

I don't particularly care to generalise.

If I like a band cool. If I don't, fuck it.

And fuck whatever 'genre' they've been placed in.

I agree with Princess B...but I guess there are bands that can be "boxed" together as having similiarities..

I love all those bands except for Mono (only cause I haven't heard them YET)

Mogwai would be my favourites on that list.

On album truly amazing and live the loudest and heaviest band I have ever seen....

Post Rock is a stupid name.

I like Mogwai and Tortoise.

Godspeed are aight, but tend to drag a bit.

I would probably lump Sigur Ros in that group, but not Radiofag...

Umm I think it was 2002 at the Metro Theatre with Trail of The Dead
The time before that was like 97 at Newtown RSL....

Yeh I do I have 3 - Yanqui UXO, Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada, Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven.

There are 2 more ep's out there but they are bloody hard to find (one of them is on cassette!)

No A Silver Mt Zion albums. Heard them many a time a friend has them as well as Fly Pan Am, Set Fire To Flames. All these bands are Godspeed offshoots, as Godspeed are on indefinate hiatus (since 2003)

Yeh Post Rock is a bit silly no stupider than any other name really...
