The Mars Volta look to be eyeing a tentative September/October release date for their new album "The Bedlam In Goliath". In other news, band guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez will be releasing a collaborative EP with Lydia Lunch this summer on Dutch label Willie Anderson Recordings. The outing will be titled "Omar Rodriguez Lopez & Lydia Lunch"

NOTE: This was on the GSL website, but it is no longer there. Also, there has been recent, unofficial-but-reliable news that the release date may have been bumped to early 2008. Sorry.

- At least one "literally 2 minute song"

- At least one song at around the 15 minute mark

- Rapid Fire Tollbooth reworked

- Idle Tooth will most likely appear on the album, although it may be called "Wax Simulacra," as this is the name of the song in Cedric's lyric book. Both titles have been registered in ASCAP

- It is a "concept album" based off of a story that has to do with a gift that Omar gave Cedric

- The ASCAP has these song titles licensed to Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala

ABERINKULA
AGADEZ
ASKEPIOS
CONJUGAL BURNS
GOLIATH
ILYENA
METATRON
SOOTHSAYER
TOURNIQUET MAN
WAX SIMULACRA
OUROBOROS
CAVALETTAS - RECALL

- "We normally prefer to let you all just hash things out on here as you see fit, but I can't help but jump into this discussion. Despite GSL's obvious connection and bias, we are also very much FANS of the band. Having had the (rare!) chance to drop in on the studio sessions and hear a couple of the new tracks in almost-finished form, I think it's safe to say that anyone who thinks they know what to expect from this album (and even the ones who don't) should seriously expect to be blown away. No joke. This album tops all that have come before it in terms of inventiveness, unpredictability, and overall power. I can't imagine ANY fan of TMV being disappointed, seriously. And wait till you see the artwork..."

Hope it's better than their last effort....and they get back to the touring form of their Enmore \ Metro dates...the Hordern was a bit how's it going.

When they are magic not much can really touch them in my book.

Francis The Mute still one of the best recordings in the past 10 years for me.

Agreed.
Although Amputechture did contain a few amazing songs.

I doubt they will ever be as great live again without Jon though...

the songs on Frances the Mute are great - its those long repetative soundscapes that throw me off calling that their best 'album'. I'd probably call Amputechture my favorite album overall...

But yeah - that show they did at te Enmore a couple fo years back was seriously amazing. A show that i will never forget...

Keen to hear what Jon has done with Zack De La Rocha. He is such an amazing drummer...
