Iceland's queen of alt pop, Bjork, has announced plans to reunite with her old band The Sugarcubes for a one-off gig.
It's almost twenty years since The Sugarcubes first got together in the garage (figuratively) and started to churn out the chords that would mark the beginning of their career as one of Icelands' most celebrated poprock exports (though nowhere near as celebrated as their former lead singer - Bjork)
While it's over a decade since the band have released any new material and Bjork fronted the group, nonetheless The Sugarcubes still hold a special place in many indie pop lover's hearts.
So fans will no doubt be pleased with the band's latest press release which reveals that The Sugarcubes will regroup in Reykjavik, Iceland on November 17 for a one-off concert. The concert will be a benefit for the non-profit Icelandic record label Smekkleysa SM (which roughly translates to Bad Taste), that was created by Sugarcubes co-founder Einar Orn Benediktsson, and houses releases from teh likes of Emiliana Torrini, Sugur Ros and Bjork.
