I say good on her, firstly for going with her gut and performing a song that she truly loved, and secondly for performing a song by an upcoming aussie band.

It sucks she got voted out actually...

I agree.

I bet she's incredibly happy she got voted out for singing a song she loved and truly believed in, rather than being pressured to sing to the masses - something she probably wouldn't have been able to sing with as much conviction or fun.

I think it's absolutely disgusting that the Idol judges critised so harshly her song choice. Not one other contestant that night sung anything by an Australian artist, and yet the show is called 'AUSTRALIAN Idol'.

well if she wanted to win the competition she should have sung something that people know. I think thats what the judges were harping on about.

i reckon that bobby guy will win, and if he doesnt he has a pretty bright future.

and that young chick, the 16yr old one. She will do well.

both individuals, own style and own sound. The rest of them sound like everyone else that has failed in idol.

I think if she was overly concerned about winning she would have done just that.

Instead she stuck to her guns, kept her dignity intact, and has the potential to go on to bigger and better things...

Most artists who succumb to the pressure of doing what the public 'wants' (or more what they THINK/ARE TOLD to want) never have any staying power.

Especially in the POP genre.

Artists like Madonna, Christina Aguilera, P!NK etc are singer/songwriters that have taken a chance, done what THEY'VE wanted to do and have staying power...

In the cases of Christina and P!NK, their first albums were complete record marketing products written with the sole intention of making money off the next up and coming popstar.

However, those artists took huge risks and veered away dramatically from their debut albums and in my honest opinion, I don't think that had they not done that, we would still hear from/about them.

Also, Scotty, PLENTY of people DO know that song. Just because those stupid judges hadn't heard of it says more about them, and their shitty taste.

Karnivool are currently probably the biggest WA band behind Eskimo Joe...

are u trying to tell me that Kyle has shitty tastE? surely his time on breakfast radio at 104.1 would have given him some exposure to great new aussie bands???

What a great reminder about why this program is totally fucked. Further drumming into young minds that you should "play it safe or you won't succeed".

Good on her for picking that song though she kind of butchered it.

Hopefully Karnivool get some exposure out of it.

Fucken oath he has shit taste.
He is one of THE most ignorant "popular" DJs I've ever come across. He's a close minded egostistical self serving musical retard.

I remember last year (I think), some guy did Queen's "We will rock you", one of the most recognisable pop songs of all time, and Kyle criticised the arrangment etc, even though the guy kept 100% to the original. I mean, what a fuckwit...
