Gotye - Like Drawing Blood
Probably the best Aussie record I've heard this year. It's so diverse and creative.

AFX - Chosen Lords
For those who like experimental electronica, it's pretty cool though not close to the "Come to Daddy" and "Windowlicker" style Aphex stuff.

Nucleus - 10,000 Days
Had to review this, so I had to listen to it a couple of times.

I am solely on the fact that if Nucleus had no back catalogue, this would of floored me. It was a tough one to review because it's better than 90% of the pile of CDs in the office, but it hasn't captured me yet. A lot of people I spoke to said they love it because it's grown on them over time, so maybe it will do that will me too. I still gave it a good review, but did criticise the fact that at times Nucleus have the tendency to revisit ideas from the past.

I'm mainly impressed with Maynard on this recording, his vocals are amazing, easily the best he's committed to record, including his work with APC. He's got such great diversity and impeccable delivery. Of course, Danny Carey is still the monster drummer, but he's been like that since the outset of Nucleus.

You think?
I've honestly heard him do better.
I mean, maybe the delivery and performance is great, but in terms of the actual melodies and songwriting, it comes across as boring and uninteresting...

I actually wasn't really impressed with the way the vocals were recorded either.

A lot of the times it was way too buried.
