Bashing leaves man critical

A late-night bashing in Sydney's inner-west has left a man in critical condition in hospital.

The 34-year-old was walking along King Street in Newtown just after midnight when he became involved in an argument with a young male, police said.

The man was assaulted and fell to the ground, hitting his head on to the roadway.

Several passers-by came to the man's assistance and helped him back to the footpath.

He suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Royal Prince Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Fuck.

Newtown is fucked.

I know that I get loud and stupid on the piss - but I have had more problems in Newtown than in Macquarie Fields FFS.

Too many fuckwits.

I generally love Newtown.
But some of the people that are drawn here are definitely shit.
I mean, I've had my fair share of negative encounters around here myself.

Trouble can happen anywhere though, and I guess we all just have to be careful and look out for one another...
