Should parents be banned from taking photos at kids' sports?

Pedophile fears sparks photo ban
Monday Jan 30 07:58 AEDT

Fears of stalking pedophiles have prompted Queensland junior sporting organisations to implement a ban on parents taking photos of their children at events.

Parents will now need to get permission from other parents and team officials before photographing children, according to reports in The Courier Mail.

Some sporting codes will also demand professional photographers to apply for special blue cards before allowing them to work at grand finals.

The crackdown is believed to be in response to reports about men photographing children at swimming pools, before posting the images on websites.

The ban comes as a 35-year-old Sydney man is charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count to incite an aggravated act of indecency.

Police allege the man approached the girls, who were walking unsupervised on a Tuncurry street, about 4pm (AEDT) Sunday and told them he was a professional photographer.

It is alleged the girls were molested on school grounds in the same street before they ran to a nearby home for help.

The Macquarie Park man was later arrested and charged and was expected to appear in Forster Local Court on Monday.

No way.
Do we really need to live with this kind of fear and paranoia in the world?

Having said that, it's shit like this that makes me not want to have kids...

Agreed.

I think it's absolutely absurd that parent's are not being able to celebrate and have a keep sake of their child's development and growth.

What will be next? A law so that absolutely NO photos of children EVER will be allowed?

Instead of targeting the honest parents of the children, there should be a hell of a lot more done to make sure that children are better protected and that these disgusting fucking arsehole predators are dealt with more harshly - including having their names and faces publicised to inform everyone that they are a danger to children.

Harsher punishments are merited for sex offenders indeed...

They definitely should not be kept 'anonymous'.
